Colonial Heights Auto Glass Repair FAQ
How do Virginia ice storms affect windshield damage?
Freezing rain is harder on glass than steady cold. Ice forms in and around an existing chip and the pressure works the crack open, then a mild afternoon swings the temperature back the other way. Colonial Heights runs through that cycle repeatedly each winter, which is why small chips so often fail between December and March.
Can I still get mobile service in the Colonial Heights area?
Most Auto Glass Now locations offer mobile repair and replacement at your home or workplace. Weather decides the day, since adhesives cure best under certain conditions and rain, freezing temperatures, or high humidity can make outdoor work impossible. When that happens we reschedule or bring the vehicle into the Colonial Heights shop.
What is the safest way to clear ice off my windshield here?
A plastic scraper with the defroster running. Caught without one, the defroster with the visors flipped down, a flat plastic card, tepid water, or a de-icer spray all work. Never use hot water, and never scrape aggressively. Both are common ways a Colonial Heights winter morning turns into a replacement.
Is the work covered by a warranty?
Yes. Auto Glass Now provides a lifetime warranty on windshield repairs and replacements against leaks, molding issues, and glass defects, for as long as you own or lease the vehicle. It covers defects in workmanship and materials, and it does not transfer if you sell the vehicle. Some conditions apply, and your local store can confirm the details.
Can Auto Glass Now fix a window broken in a break-in?
Yes. We repair and replace glass after a break-in or vandalism, including windshields, rear windows, and side glass. Document the damage with photos, file a police report, and contact your insurer, since comprehensive coverage rather than liability is generally what applies to this kind of damage. Cover the opening while parked until your appointment.
Does the Colonial Heights shop serve nearby towns?
Yes. Our Colonial Heights location is a short drive from Ettrick, Petersburg, Fort Lee, Hopewell and Chester, and the surrounding communities. Walk-ins are welcome, though booking ahead is better since service depends on scheduling and glass availability that day. For mobile repair or replacement, check the service area listed on this page.
Customer Reviews
5 Stars - Best Service in Colonial Heights I was shopping around in the Colonial Heights area to get a regulator installed in my 2022 Audi. I originally called Auto Now, but found some cheaper options and went with them. Those didn't work out, so I came back to Auto Now.
Kevon White,Lengthy but worth the read! Absolutely an AMAZING experience working with Ace! This was my second windshield replacement and I asked my insurance if I could use a different company than the first one, not sure how safe but the windshield was definitely lite 🙄, and they found Ace to be in my network. Ya’ll. Ace reached out to me! Thankfully because, squirrel! They got me scheduled right away. Amber (cool to see someone else with my name!) answered all my questions due to my concern over the other replacement I had done (different company remember). I was notified what number in line I was for the day, I received a call when they were on the way and when they arrived. I didn’t even have to take time off work as they came to me! They were very transparent about the issues they have with the removal and re-sticking of the new 2027 inspection stickers, but were able to get it on my new windshield. As with anything, sometimes stuff happens and a part was damaged during the replacement, but was not due to the workmanship, and they told me about it, how it happened and said they already ordered the part to replace. I really can’t say enough how pleased I am with this experience. 100% would use them again and if you need your windshield replaced, you won’t go wrong choosing Ace!!
Amber Smith,Thank you, Auto Glass Now, for your professionalism and excellent work. I also want to sincerely thank Angie for her compassion, kindness, and words of encouragement, generosity during one of the most difficult times of my life. She went above and beyond to make me feel cared for, and I will never forget it.
Jereen Brown-Lucas,I had a great experience with Auto Glass! They replaced the windshield on my Honda CR-V and recalibrated the safety cameras quickly and efficiently. The entire process was smooth -- everything was completed in a timely manner, and my vehicle was returned in excellent condition. I really appreciated how easy they made the whole experience. I would definitely recommend Auto Glass to anyone needing windshield replacement and/or recalibration services!
MJ Hendricks,Easy scheduling appointment more timely and less expensive than the major competitor. I was pleased with the installation overall. The experience could have been enhanced with a more customer service friendly experience with the receptionist when I dropped it off shortly before my 8 AM appointment I wasn’t given an estimated completion time. Looking at the web site I anticipated about 2 hours so I called around 10:12 and was told they were working on it.. When I asked about what time it would be ready I was told we will call you without even consulting with the tech. I was called about 40 minutes later stating it was ready.
