Windshield Replacement & Auto Glass Repair in Rochester, NY

Freeze and thaw is the reason. Moisture works its way into a chip, then expands when it refreezes overnight and pushes the glass apart from the inside. Add the contraction that comes with cold and one hard New York pothole, and a chip you could have filled last month becomes a crack that needs a full replacement.

Keep the cabin dry and the inside of the glass clean, and use the defrost system rather than wiping it clear by hand. Snow tracked in from Rochester sidewalks evaporates and condenses on cold glass. Avoid household cleaners on the interior too, since ammonia residue contributes to fogging and damages window tint.

Sometimes, though adhesives cure best under certain conditions, so freezing temperatures, snow, or rain may push the job indoors, and the vehicle and work area need to be clear of ice. The Rochester shop is a controlled environment with more equipment on hand, which makes it the better option on a rough New York weather day.
