Metairie Auto Glass Repair FAQ
How does Metairie humidity and heat affect a cracked windshield?
Both work against you. Heat expands the glass, and moisture that seeps into a chip gets trapped between the glass layers where it cannot dry out, slowly pushing the damage wider. Along the Louisiana coast that combination runs most of the year, which is why a chip here rarely stays a chip for long.
Why did a crack appear with no impact?
Stress cracks form without anything hitting the glass, usually starting at the windshield's edge, set off by temperature changes, vibration, or pressure. Around Metairie the daily swing between a car baked in a parking lot and a full-blast air conditioner is a common trigger. Edge cracks spread faster than center damage.
Should I wash my car if the windshield is chipped?
Not in a commercial wash. Pressure, temperature change, and water are hard on damaged glass, and water that gets trapped inside a chip cannot evaporate, which warps the layers. Washing by hand is gentler. Spot clean the panels and leave the windshield alone until it has been repaired.
Is the work covered by a warranty?
Yes. Auto Glass Now provides a lifetime warranty on windshield repairs and replacements against leaks, molding issues, and glass defects, for as long as you own or lease the vehicle. It covers defects in workmanship and materials, and it does not transfer if you sell the vehicle. Some conditions apply, and your local store can confirm the details.
Can Auto Glass Now fix a window broken in a break-in?
Yes. We repair and replace glass after a break-in or vandalism, including windshields, rear windows, and side glass. Document the damage with photos, file a police report, and contact your insurer, since comprehensive coverage rather than liability is generally what applies to this kind of damage. Cover the opening while parked until your appointment.
Does the Metairie shop serve nearby towns?
Yes. Our Metairie location is a short drive from Kenner, Marrero, Terrytown, New Orleans and Laplace, and the surrounding communities. Walk-ins are welcome, though booking ahead is better since service depends on scheduling and glass availability that day. For mobile repair or replacement, check the service area listed on this page.

My initial phone call was quick and painless. The front office helped me very quickly and with a smile. The technician got right To work. He told me what he was gonna do and how to treat the windshield after I got it patched. Overall, I was in and out in under an hour. The estimate was spot on. No hidden charges.
Kevin Luster, quick and easy, ladies in office were friendly and ordered my drivers front window I dropped it off at 10:30 & about an hour and a half later I was called to pick it up. Siya Ware,I’ve been having a cracked windshield for months, constantly Google searching for a company that is reliable, reputable that offers cost effective prices on a windshield replacement for my car. During my search I found Auto Glass Now and read their customer’s reviews and was very impressed by what the customers had to say about this company. I’m so glad I made the decision to book an appointment with this company. I was able to call and book an appointment on the same day. I was offered options to choose which timeframe I wanted to have my services done at my convenience. As well as being offered $30.00 off the original price that was listed on their website. Both their online representative and local store staff members were very nice, helpful, friendly and eager to assist me. I also would like to acknowledge and thank their technician for going beyond the call of duty for making the decision to work on my car before taking his lunch break because he didn’t want me to sit and wait a long time. Auto Glass Now staff members, thank you again for providing me with excellent customer service. I will definitely tell my family and friends about the experience and excellent customer service that was provided to me by the staff members of Auto Glass Now!!!!
