Windshield Replacement & Repair in Florence, SC

Summer heat expands the glass while humidity and rain push moisture into the damage, where it cannot evaporate back out. Add a long thunderstorm season with wind-driven debris and the occasional hailstorm, and a small chip in Florence has plenty working against it. Repairing it early usually saves you a replacement.

Stress cracks appear without anything hitting the glass. They usually start at the windshield's edge and travel inward, set off by temperature swings, vibration, or pressure. Around Florence the jump from a car baked in a parking lot to full air conditioning is a frequent trigger. Edge damage spreads faster than damage in the middle.

Not a commercial one. Pressure and temperature change stress damaged glass, and water that gets into the chip stays trapped between the layers where it cannot dry. Hand washing is gentler. Leave the windshield alone until the chip is filled, which often takes about half an hour.
