Auto Glass Now Lifetime Warranty Explained: What Is Covered, What Is Not, and How to File a Claim

A Warranty That Lasts as Long as You Own the Vehicle

When you choose Auto Glass Now for a windshield replacement or repair, you are not just getting new glass. You are getting a Lifetime Warranty against leaks, molding issues, and glass defects, valid for as long as you own or lease the vehicle.

That covers a lot of ground. If something goes wrong with the work we performed, a covered defect in workmanship or materials, we fix it at no charge. No expiration date, no mileage cap, no annual renewal.

One thing to know upfront: the warranty does not transfer if you sell the vehicle. It follows you, the owner or lessee, not the car. Keep that in mind if you are planning to sell soon and want to mention the warranty as a selling point.

What the Lifetime Warranty Covers

The warranty is designed to protect you against problems that trace back to our work or our materials. Specifically, covered issues include leaks, molding defects, and defects in the glass itself, all stemming from workmanship or the materials used during your service.

Here is what that looks like in practice. If your new windshield develops a water leak along the seal a few months after installation, that is a workmanship issue we stand behind. If the molding around the glass pulls away or fits poorly because of how it was installed, we will make it right. If the glass itself arrives with a defect, we address it.

The bottom line: if the problem is our fault, we cover it, for as long as you own or lease the vehicle. That is the promise.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

A lifetime auto glass warranty is a strong commitment, but it has limits that are worth understanding before you need them.

The following are excluded from coverage: vandalism, theft, a subsequent accident or collision, negligent conduct, acts of God or natural disasters, rock chips, owner negligence, failure to follow post-installation care instructions, and glass or parts supplied by the customer.

A few of those are worth spelling out. If a rock hits your new windshield on the highway and chips it, that is not a workmanship defect, it is road hazard damage, and it falls outside the warranty. Same goes for a hailstorm, a fender-bender, or damage from someone who deliberately broke your glass. Those situations are better handled through your auto insurance.

Owner negligence and failure to follow aftercare instructions are also excluded. After a replacement, your technician will walk you through the care steps, including allowing the adhesive to fully cure, typically 24 to 48 hours, before washing the car or slamming doors repeatedly. Skipping those steps and then experiencing a problem can affect your warranty standing, so please follow the post-service guidance you are given.

The Special Case: Chip Repairs and Replacement

Windshield chip repairs are intended to preserve the original windshield whenever possible. Because the glass is already damaged, there is a possibility that the damage may spread during the repair process or, in some cases, afterward.

If a windshield replacement becomes necessary due to the damage spreading, the replacement itself is not covered under the Lifetime Warranty. However, Auto Glass Now will apply the amount paid for the original chip repair toward the cost of the replacement

For insurance claims, the amount paid for the original chip repair will be credited or refunded to the insurance carrier, as applicable.

For retail customers, the amount paid for the chip repair will be credited toward the replacement when performed by Auto Glass Now.

This policy reflects our commitment to preserving the original windshield whenever possible while providing customers with credit toward a replacement if the damaged glass cannot be successfully repaired.

Sliding Back Glass on Trucks: A Different Coverage Term

If you drive a truck with sliding back glass, take note. That glass is warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of installation, not for the lifetime of your ownership.

For all other auto glass services, the standard lifetime coverage applies. If you are unsure which category your vehicle falls into, ask when you schedule your appointment and a representative can confirm the coverage that applies to your specific job.

How to File a Warranty Claim

If you notice a concern with your Auto Glass Now installation, contact your local Auto Glass Now location as soon as possible. To preserve your warranty eligibility, concerns must be reported within 30 days of discovery. Prompt reporting allows our team to inspect the concern while conditions are current, determine the root cause, and provide the appropriate resolution.

When you contact us, please have your original work order or invoice available, if possible, along with your vehicle information and photos of the concern. While photos are helpful for understanding the issue, they may not provide enough information to determine the cause or warranty eligibility.

After your concern is reported, a manager or designated representative will schedule an inspection appointment. A hands-on inspection is the most effective way to identify the root cause and determine whether the concern is covered under the terms of the Auto Glass Now Lifetime Warranty.

If the inspection confirms a warrantable condition, Auto Glass Now will perform the appropriate corrective action in accordance with the terms of the Lifetime Warranty. Additional documentation, including a valid photo ID, may be requested to verify ownership, as the Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

If you are unable to return to the original installation location, our team will work with you to coordinate service at another Auto Glass Now location whenever possible.

Why the Warranty Matters When You Are Choosing a Provider

Windshield replacement is not a small decision. Your windshield is a structural safety component. It supports your car's frame, and a poorly installed one can put you at risk in a collision. Choosing a provider that stands behind its work with a real, documented warranty is part of choosing safely.

Auto Glass Now has more than 30 years in the auto glass industry and hundreds of locations nationwide. Technicians use OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) automotive glass, which meets insurance industry standards, and AGN accepts all auto insurance and can manage your claim from start to finish.
